The administration of human resources is a critical function in hotel management. This area is very dynamic and needs to have a team of dedicated professionals to keep pace with current law changes. Strand Development has a very experienced team that draws from the human resource departments of our two ownership groups, Pharr Yarns, Inc. and Burroughs and Chapin Company, Inc. Through this partnership, we are able to offer our associates the benefit of a large human resources department. These companies provide Strand with assistance with everything from personnel file set-up to benefit administration.
We have also recognized the importance of teaming up with experts in the various fields encompassing the human resource profession. Along those line, we have teamed up with PayChex, the largest 401(k) provider in the country, to provide and administer our 401(k) plan, we have entered into a partnership with our local technical college to provide hotel specific training to our hospitality associates, and we have engaged a human resource professional with over thirty years of experience to conduct climate surveys at each of our properties. We try to be proactive in every aspect of this area so as to maximize the experience of our hospitality associates, while limiting the liability of our ownership groups.
