Under Pharr's direction, Strand Development Company, LLC has taken its place among the leading Hotel Management Companies in the Southeast. John Pharr is responsible for development, management, and operations of all properties and projects managed by the Company. It surprised no one when in May 2001 John was named Hotelier of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Hospitality Association - an honor reserved for very few out of hundreds managing the more than 75,000 hotel rooms along the Grand Strand.

John Pharr and Strand Development Company are, in the eyes of many, synonymous. With the Company from the start as General Manager of the Holiday Inn Downtown on the ocean in Myrtle Beach, Pharr has been at the helm since 1984. His skills as an administrator combined with his unparalleled knowledge of the hospitality business have made him an icon in the travel and tourism industry.

An honor graduate of Webster University with a Masters Degree in Business Administration and Management, Pharr received his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Management from Michigan State University in 1969. As a Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve, John Pharr has worked with the Air Force on Lodging and Hospitality projects worldwide. He is currently assigned to Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, Virginia. He also serves as an Air Force Academy Liaison Officer.

From 1969 through the present, John Pharr has served in the United States Air Force Reserve, Headquarters ACC Services, Langley AFB, Virginia. He is a consultant to the Air Force regarding worldwide hospitality issues and serves as an Admissions Counselor.

An active member of his community, Pharr is a board member of the Myrtle Beach Rotary Club and a former Board of Directors member of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday - the promotional organization of the area's booming golf industry. He serves on the Board of Myrtle Beach National Course Inc. - the area's largest Golf Course/Accommodations operator. In addition to this he serves on the Advisory Boards for the University of South Carolina Hospitality School and Coastal Carolina University Hospitality Program. John also serves as on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Hospitality Association and he is a former member of the Wingate Inns Presidents Advisory Council.

Jay is a 25+ year veteran of the hospitality industry. His extensive background includes assignments as a Regional Manager for Brilyn Hotels as well as a District Manager with Prime Hospitality. Jay has experience with most major national brands including Marriott, Hilton, Starwood, IHG, Choice, Best Western and Wyndham branded hotels. Jay’s career started in the food and beverage side of the business as an Executive Chef. He has held several General Manager positions including a 403 room Sheraton Hotel. He has a Business degree from Green Community College and is C.H.A. certified by the American Hotel Institute. Jay is married and has four children.

As Director of Finance/Controller for Strand Development Company, LLC, John is responsible for all aspects of financial and administrative management at all Strand properties. These duties include daily cash and revenue management, implementation and review of property internal controls, preparation and review of monthly financial statements, analysis of general ledger accounts, preparation and review of key management reports, operating and capital budgeting, maintenance and review of all capital asset projects and records, and management of the Company's human resources.

John joined Strand's hospitality management team in 1998 after working a number of years in the public accounting field. While in public accounting, he provided tax and audit services primarily for entities in the real estate development and hospitality industries.

He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 1992, and is a licensed CPA in South Carolina. John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Grand Strand (Myrtle Beach Area) Chapter of Certified Public Accounts, and Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals.

John and his family reside in Myrtle Beach.

As a Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing for Strand Development Company, LLC, Tammy Hart-Coon is responsible for all the Sales and Marketing efforts of all hotel properties including training, management of the sales process, hands on account development, marketing, revenue management e-commerce and social media management.

A graduate of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL, Tammy has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the hospitality industry, managing sales and marketing efforts in several primary, secondary and tertiary markets in the country, ranging from city center hotels to airport areas to resort locations and interstate locations. Her management experience includes brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, Starwood  IHG, Carlson, Choice, LaQuinta and Wyndham hotels.
